The aim of Ogre Protolab Laboratory is to give high quality services for our clients, what will rise added value for client businesses.
Foundation „Ogre Business and Innovation Centre” laboratory offers new innovative tehnology of complete lasersystem for structuring prototype printed circuit boards. Laser tehnology provides fast process of producing , non remnant tehnology, higher precision and high level of complexity, what are difficult to reach with alternative chemical etching tehnologies traditional in this industry.

1. LPKF ProtoLaser S. Compact lasersystem for chemical free, high precise structuring of double sided circuit boards with xy-vacuum table and autofocus camera for the production of Prototypes and small series. Laser tehnology is faster and more precise method in producing PCB prototype comparing with chemical etching. Method is preeminent with high precision, flexibility and working speed.
Competence – programming of lasersystem, management, maintenance, testing of finished production.
2. LPKF ProtoMat H100 with machine hood. Circuit board plotter for the production of prototype PCBs and small series, working area 380 mm x 365 mm, high speed spindle motor, adjustable 10.000 to 100.000 rpm, incl. software package – consisting of CircuitCAM PCB (conversion / insulation software) and BoardMaster (machine control software). Solid aluminium cast machine table. Special specs: automatic tool change with 30 stations, pneumatic working depth limiter, pneumatic stroke and collet, acoustic cabinet (machine hood), camera system for automatic fiducial recognition, integrated vacuum tabletop, milling head lighting and high power exhaust system for vaccum and dust extraction.

3. LPKF MultiPress S. Automatic operation multilayer press for the production of 4- to 8-layer PCBs, integrated micro-controller, 4-line display, menu-controlled user-interface, size of base material (gross): 229 mm x 305 mm (9″ x 12″), max. size of PCB (net): 200 mm x 275 mm (7,9″ x 10.8″), press power (related to: 229 mm x 305 mm): 286 N/cm² (44/N/in²). Special working desk of aluminium profile, movable, can be loaded up with 240 kg.
4. LPKF Pro Mask. System to apply solder resist on prototype Printed Circuit Boards. Set sufficient for 10 double sided boards in the dimension of A4. Equipment has a complete set of ultraviolet highlighting system to transfer drowing from film to photo sensitive area.
5. Galvanic Through-hole Plating LPKF Contac RS. System for galvanic through-hole plating for double sided boards including chemical tin with 6 bathes (2 cleaner, 1 sink, 1 activator, 1 copper plater, 1 chemical tin) with shiftable reverse pulse plating technology. With integrated micro-controller, 4-line display, menu-contolled user-interface.

7. Lasermarking system (TRUMPF station). TRUMPF marking lasers are used in many different applications: metals, plastics, ceramics, organic materials, etc. – they mark almost everything. Every symbol or character can be produced, from lines and numbers on a speedometer to the graphics for programming a washing machine. In many cases these are logos, product and part names, as well as legally mandated information, such as material data, „best before” dates, or safety instructions. Special codes distinguish brand name products from imitations. It is also possible to produce indentations and marking lines for downstream production. TRUMPF marking lasers are characterized by their high quality results, just as well as by their high level of flexibility. Thei can Mark any workspiece shape, even in places that are difficult to reach. High quality laser marking and micro processing are popular for high quality products, space saving desktop laser work station (equipment needed for marking text and design elements on produced products, it is actual for electronic and metalworking branches companies who manufacture products in small amounts).

Protolab Network – Tartu Science Park provides services and trainings for companies and universities in close co-operation with Latvian partners.
The services and trainings will cover fine mechanics and rapid prototyping: turning, milling, high-precision milling, drilling and sheet metal handling on fine mechanical area.
In all other areas of fine mechanics and metalworking, not covered by Protolab Network, relevant companies will be contacted in the region. Mathematic Modelling
The Department of Mathematic Modelling deals with modelling of industrial set-ups, economical and business processes. The department uses the up-to-date methodology, as well as individual approach for each client and their needs.
Applied Electronics and Bluetooth
The Department carries out the development of Bluetooth products and testing of electronic and electrical engineering products by using its Bluetooth and applied electronics equipment and software.
Telecommunication Products Development
The vision of the department is to collaborate with universities from Latvia and EU in creation of new education programmes and courses, as well as to collaborate with production companies from the Baltic States and EU in developing new services and products in voice and data transfer, as well as development and verification of new, sophisticated systems.
The services of Ventspils Protolab Laboratory can be divided in 3 categories:
1. The services of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE)
– 3D designing of parts and constructions (using latest SolidWorks, Unigraphics NX, 3ds Max and other professional software)
– Creation of design documentation (drawings, specifications, etc.)
– Simulation of movement. We can use Motion Analysis for accurately simulating and analyzing the effects of motion elements (including forces, springs, dampers, and friction ) on an assembly. Motion Analysis uses computationally strong kinematic solvers, and accounts for material properties as well as mass and inertia in the computations. We can also use Motion Analysis to plot simulation results for further analysis.
– Production of spatial images
– Analysis of part design. Design safe, efficient, and economical products.
– Designing of moulds
– Training and retraining of designers and engineers (SolidWorks, Unigraphics NX, CADStar and other specialities)
2. The services of Rapid Prototyping
– Printing coloured composite material, elastomer or ABS plastic physical prototypes of the necessary part. Application: prototypes, functional testing, presentation models, investment casting, geospatial, education, healthcare.

Roland Picza LPX 600 and Creaform EXAscan
Producing high-resolution digital data using an advanced non-contact laser sensor and high quality optics to capture parts. The combination of precision laser optics and motion control within a rigid enclosure lets design engineers produce high quality scans with minimal surface noise.
Laser scanner is perfect for a wide variety of CAD and computer graphics applications, including capturing complex data for hand-held consumer products, blister package design, hand-sculpted characters for feature animation and a host of biomedical applications. Scanner can generate a detailed, high resolution 3D model with watertight surfaces.
